What to Do in a Fire Emergency:

1. Call for Help – Dial 911  & provide your exact location. Let others know.
2. Evacuate Safely – Leave the area quickly, staying low to avoid smoke inhalation.
3. Use Fire Extinguisher if Safe – If the fire is small, use the nearest fire extinguisher (PASS method: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
4. Close Doors Behind You – This helps contain the fire and slow its spread.
5. Assist Others if Possible – Help children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities evacuate.
6. Do Not Use Elevators – Always use stairs to exit a burning building.
7. Cover Nose & Mouth – Use a cloth (preferably wet) to breathe through smoke-filled areas.
8. If Trapped, Signal for Help – Stay near a window and use a flashlight or cloth to attract attention.
9. Stop, Drop, and Roll – If your clothes catch fire, do not run. Drop to the ground, cover your face, and roll until the flames are out.
10. Do Not Re-Enter – Once outside, do not go back for belongings. Wait for firefighters to arrive.
